Club Introduction
赫瑞瓦特大学华文学会是校内文化与艺术部的学生组织。本会是由一群热爱中华文化的学生于2014/15学年成立的，宗旨是向所有青年以及大众传承并发扬中华文化。本会每年都会在校内举办各种传统节日的庆典，如新春庆典及中秋庆典，以便让各族同胞对中华文化庆典有所了解。本会也倡导学生不断的自我学习与自我挑战以丰富个人的阅历。
Chinese Cultural Society (HWUMCCS) is one of the clubs under the Arts and Cultural Division of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. This club was established in the 2014/15 academic year. Our club focuses on promoting Chinese culture to youth and the public. For example, we will organize traditional festival celebrations on campus every year, such as Chinese New Year celebrations and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations. We hope to let everyone from all races learn about our Chinese cultural celebrations. Through the events, students are encouraged to expand their personal experiences and development skills.

Our Logo
本次活动的标识整体设计围绕着活动的核心价值——“传承”。具体采用了古时候用于记载历史与文化的竹简与毛笔，以及随工业时代而量产的纸和铅笔。纸墨笔砚正如传家宝，以此将前人的精神从古至今不断延续到下一代，亦象征中华文化源远流长。
“承古传今” 整体标识以虎爪的轮廓呈现，代表着壬寅虎年。 此外，设计含括冷暖两色，旨在隐喻从前古色古香的建筑与现代化的钢筋水泥的对比。设计中暗藏了许多巧思，比如仅显示到六点的时钟象征着今年为第六届赫瑞瓦特华文学会新春活动；字体设计也融入了竹子毛笔纸张的元素，并借鉴于中式标识。
The overall design of the logo for this event revolves around the core value of the event, "Inheritance". Specifically, we have used the bamboo slips and brushes that are used to record the history and traditional culture of ancient times, as well as paper and pencils that are mass-produced with the industrial age. Chinese calligraphy, Chinese ink, Chinese Shuen paper, and inkstone can be seen as family heirlooms, which inherit the spirit of our ancestor from ancient times to the present and then to the next generation, while these also symbolize the long history of Chinese culture.
The overall logo of "Heirloom: The Spirit" is presented with the outline of a tiger's claw, representing the Year of the Tiger. In addition, the design includes two color tones of cold and warm, aiming to metaphor the contrast between the old antique buildings and the modern reinforced concrete. There are much ingenuity hidden in the designs. For example, the clock that stops at 6 represents that this is the 6th year of Chinese New Year Extravaganza event. The font design also incorporates elements of bamboo brush and paper, which is referenced from Chinese logo design.

伴随2022年，即壬寅虎年，一只身穿唐装，前额长着别致虎纹的吉祥物——“大福”横空出世。戴着墨镜的它看起来调皮又可爱，不禁让人好奇它是不是曾爬到树上耍宝，不慎从树上掉下来后只剩下一颗虎牙。
“大福”肩上背着的并不是普通的相机，据说只要调整镜头上指着六点钟的时针和分针，就能使人看到过去或未来，且能把那些画面定格成一张张照片作为纪念。这台神奇的相机被“大福”视若珍宝，它常说这是一台承载了古今中外各种文化精粹的时光机！“大福”脚上的鞋子还印有代表着吉祥，喜庆的祥云纹，具有深厚的文化内涵以及蕴含着他对生命的美好向往。
In 2022, which is the Year of the Tiger, a mascot with a unique tiger pattern on its forehead, wearing a Tang costume, named Da Fu, was born. Wearing a pair of sunglasses, it looks naughty and cute. It makes people wonder if it has ever climbed a tree to play and fell off from the tree accidentally to find out that only one of his tiger tooth remains.
Da Fu is not merely carrying an ordinary camera. In fact, it is said that as long as the hour and minute hands on the lens are adjusted, people can see the past or the future, and can freeze those experiences into pictures to commemorate. This magical camera is regarded as a treasure by Da Fu. It is a time machine that carries the essence of various cultures of ancient and modern China or even foreign countries! The shoes of Da Fu are also printed with festive auspicious cloud patterns. Those cloud patterns have profound cultural connotations and it contains Da Fu’s beautiful yearning for life.
